1995
Master thief Simon Templar is hired by Gregor Tretiak to steal cold fusion research from scientist Jillian St. Thomas, whom he seduces to gain access. Templar is double-crossed by Tretiak, who kidnaps Jillian to exploit her research, prompting Templar to pursue them across Europe, rescuing Jillian from Tretiak's assassin, Ilya. They team up to expose Tretiak's plot to destabilize Russia by faking a nuclear meltdown, infiltrating his facility to transmit a video revealing his plan. Tretiak is killed by Ilya, who also dies, and with the plot thwarted, Templar escapes, sharing a final glance with Jillian as she continues her work.
