ARGO script

In 1979, Iranian revolutionaries storm the United States Embassy in Tehran, taking American diplomats hostage, but six escape and find refuge at the Canadian Ambassador's residence. CIA exfiltration specialist Tony Mendez devises a daring plan to rescue the six by posing as a Hollywood producer scouting locations for a fake science fiction film called "Argo." Mendez travels to Tehran, meets the escapees, and despite their skepticism and the mission being officially cancelled by the White House, he convinces them to proceed with the dangerous plan. As Iranian authorities intensify their search for the missing Americans, Mendez and the six escapees face a tense confrontation at Mehrabad Airport, where they narrowly convince Komiteh guards of their film crew identities by presenting storyboards and fake production materials.

If these people can read OR add, any minute they're gonna figure out they're six short of a full deck. It's winter. You wanna wait around for a nice spring day for bike rides? The only way out's through the airport. You build them new identities, a Moses gs in, takes them out on a commercial flight.

Tony Mendez / Scene 58

I see. The exotic Orient. Snake charmers and flying carpets. You come to us at a complicated time. Before the Revolution, 40 percent of the movie theaters in Tehran were showing pornography. Our function is purification as well as promotion of the arts. I'll review for the Minister.

John Chambers / Scene 93

The Times and A.P. found out they're with the Canadians. Somebody in one of the families talked. I just put Vance on a plane to take the editors to Le Cirque. He thinks he can get them to sit on it. For now. Your guy better get them and get the hell out.

Adam Engell / Scene 96

Do you know that every day they catch another friend of the shah at the airport. Kangaroo trials then firing squads. Just for having American names in their phone books. You've been here an hour and you're asking us to trust you with our lives, Mr. --

J Stafford / Scene 100

Just a matter of time. We've got Revolutionary Guards going door-to-door like Jehovah's Witnesses, looking for escapees. They're out for blood, Tony. Half of them think Khomeini's been too lenient with the ones in the embassy.

Jack O'Donnell / Scene 56

No. Just the pricks on our side. So all our other pricks on their prick thrones know, when they get run out on a rail, they won't be getting their spleens out by a camel vet in the Sinai.
