1994
In 1960, Chuck Gieg joins the Albatross, a sailing school for rebellious teenage boys, under the strict command of Captain Christopher Sheldon and his wife, Dr. Alice Sheldon, for a year-long voyage. The crew faces challenges, including a major storm and the expulsion of a rebellious member, but bonds through shared experiences as they sail through the Caribbean and to the Galapagos Islands. However, their journey takes a tragic turn when a sudden white squall capsizes the Albatross, resulting in the deaths of Alice Sheldon and three crew members. A maritime tribunal convenes, where Captain Sheldon takes full responsibility and surrenders his license, with Chuck later scattering the Captain's ashes at sea, honoring his mentor.
