Della Myers, a suburban mother, leaves home after an argument with her husband, Kenneth, and is soon confronted by a group of young men who kill a security guard at the mall. She escapes in her Ford Explorer, leading the group on a high-speed chase that ends with her car crashing into a pine tree in a dense wooded area. Stranded and pursued, Della uses her wits to evade the boys, ultimately killing Tomas with a lug wrench and Vinh in a pine tree. Della fixes her car, drives home, and confronts Kenneth, pulling an empty gun on him, leaving the true nature of her ordeal ambiguous to her husband.
