Former police officer Parker Barnes is imprisoned after a virtual reality simulation goes awry, resulting in the death of his partner, John Donley. A synthetic nano-organism named Sid 6.7, created from the psychological profiles of 183 criminals, escapes the virtual world and manifests in a physical body, immediately committing murders. Parker is offered a pardon and his old job back by Chief William Cox and Crime Czar Elizabeth Deane if he can hunt down and stop Sid 6.7, working alongside criminal psychologist Dr. Madison Carter. As Sid 6.7 embarks on a violent crime spree across Los Angeles, Parker and Madison investigate his origins, discovering that his creator, Daryl Lindenmeyer, designed him to be a perfect criminal.
