Tron 2.0 infiltrates the X-Net nexus, sabotaging its power supply and evading security programs RX23 and Krod in a high-speed chase across the Optik Highway and the old game grid. In the real world, Encom CEO Gordon Sinclair and security expert Rush Nortebi track the intruder, with Rush entering cyberspace to confront Tron, who is revealed to be an upgraded version of the legendary program. Rush, joined by Mega and Krod, attempts to uplink to the real world and confirms Tron's identity, but they are attacked by a D-Rezz program and lose contact with Sinclair and Megan Randall. After recruiting the D-Rezz program and I-Beem, Rush and his team set a trap for Tron on the old game grid, but Tron escapes, leading them through a decaying labyrinth where Rush eventually defeats Tron and discovers the presence of Flynn.
