Detective Thomas Dagget investigates the murder of the angel Simon, who was protecting the soul of a wicked general hidden within a young girl named Mary from the angel Gabriel, who seeks it to win a celestial war against God. Thomas, a former priest, teams up with Mary's teacher, Katherine, to protect Mary from Gabriel, uncovering the truth about the war in heaven and the soul's significance.
