1992
In 1757, during the French and Indian War, frontiersman Hawkeye, adopted son of the Mohican Chingachgook, and his brother Uncas, rescue British Major Duncan Heyward and the Munro sisters, Cora and Alice, from a Huron ambush led by the vengeful Magua. They travel to Fort William Henry, where Cora's father, Colonel Munro, commands, only to find it under siege by the French and their Huron allies. Hawkeye is arrested for encouraging colonial militia to leave the fort to protect their homes, but he escapes during the British surrender and subsequent massacre by Magua's Hurons. Hawkeye, Uncas, and Chingachgook pursue Magua, who has captured Cora, Alice, and Heyward, leading to a confrontation at a Huron village where Heyward sacrifices himself to save Cora.
