1991
Disgraced private investigator Joe Hallenbeck and former quarterback Jimmy Dix reluctantly team up after their loved ones are murdered in connection to a conspiracy. They uncover a plot by corrupt football owner Conrad Marcon to bribe Senator Calvin Baynard to legalize sports gambling, with the murders linked to a blackmail scheme. After retrieving incriminating evidence, Joe and Jimmy face a violent confrontation, leading to Marcon kidnapping Joe's wife and daughter. In a final showdown, Marcon is killed by a booby-trapped briefcase, his hitman Milo is killed by Joe's wife, and Joe and Jimmy decide to become partners.
