Sebastian Caine, a brilliant but arrogant scientist, successfully develops a phase-shift protocol that allows for invisibility and, crucially, a reversion protocol to restore visibility. After successfully testing the protocol on a gorilla named Isabelle, Sebastian, against the advice of his team, decides to be the first human subject, but the reversion protocol fails, leaving him permanently invisible. As Sebastian's mental state deteriorates due to his invisibility, he becomes increasingly violent and manipulative, stalking his former partner Linda Foster and her boyfriend Matthew Kensington, and eventually murdering Dr. Harry Kramer, a member of the oversight committee. The team attempts to trap Sebastian within the secure lab, but he outsmarts them, kills Carter Abbey, and sabotages the facility, causing a massive explosion. Linda and Matt escape the collapsing lab, leaving Sebastian to his presumed death in the inferno.
