THE GREAT ESCAPE script analysis
Allied POWs arrive at Stalag Luft and immediately begin plotting a mass escape through elaborate tunnels. After initial setbacks in the cooler and careful preparation of identities and equipment, the prisoners reach within inches of freedom. Their plan is dramatically foiled by guards who discover the tunnel and open fire, ending in recapture and grim consequences. The final image leaves the surviving officers regrouping at the train station, determined to try again.
