1997
Kevin Lomax, an undefeated defense attorney from Florida, accepts a prestigious job offer from John Milton's New York law firm, moving there with his wife, Mary Ann. As Kevin's career flourishes, Mary Ann struggles with unsettling visions and the firm's dark influence, leading to her mental deterioration and eventual suicide. Kevin discovers that Milton is his biological father and the Devil, who orchestrated his rise to power to fulfill a demonic prophecy with Christabella, Kevin's half-sister. Milton reveals his plan for Kevin to father the Antichrist with Christabella, but Kevin, horrified, shoots himself to prevent this.
