1992
An Irish Republican Army volunteer named Fergus kidnaps a British soldier named Jody, and the two form an unexpected bond before Jody is accidentally killed during an escape attempt. Haunted by Jody's death, Fergus flees to London and seeks out Jody's partner, Dil, a beautiful hairdresser with whom he quickly falls in love. Fergus discovers that Dil is a pre-operative trans woman, which initially shocks him, but he eventually accepts her for who she is. The past catches up to Fergus when his former IRA comrades, Jude and Maguire, arrive in London and force him to participate in an assassination plot.
