1962
Wealthy socialite Melanie Daniels follows lawyer Mitch Brenner to Bodega Bay, where she is immediately attacked by a gull, initiating a series of increasingly aggressive bird attacks on the town. As Melanie grows closer to Mitch and his family, the birds escalate their assaults, invading a birthday party, swarming the Brenner house, and causing widespread panic and death throughout the community. Melanie is severely injured during a final bird invasion of her bedroom after the family barricades themselves in the house through a night of relentless attacks. At dawn, Mitch, Lydia, and Cathy carefully navigate through thousands of silently perched birds to flee Bodega Bay with a traumatized Melanie and the lovebirds.
