The Abyss script analysis
The Abyss follows Bud Brigman and a team of deep‐sea workers as they respond to the sinking of the USS Montana and encounter mysterious non-terrestrial intelligences beneath the ocean. Personal and professional conflicts erupt, particularly between Bud and his ex-wife Lindsey, and Navy SEAL Coffey’s escalating paranoia leads to catastrophe. Ultimately Bud undertakes a record-setting dive, defuses a nuclear warhead, and mediates first contact with benevolent aliens who avert global disaster.
