1997
Sisters Kat and Bianca Stratford face a strict rule from their overprotective father: Bianca cannot date until the rebellious Kat does. New student Cameron, who is smitten with Bianca, conspires with friend Michael to pay mysterious bad-boy Patrick Verona to woo Kat, also allowing arrogant jock Joey to pursue Bianca. Patrick eventually wins over the cynical Kat, but she discovers his payment at prom and leaves heartbroken, while Bianca and Cameron also navigate their budding romance. The next day, Kat reads a heartfelt poem revealing her true feelings for Patrick, who then buys her a guitar, leading to both couples happily together at a backyard barbecue.
