Journalist Tamara Drewe returns to her childhood home, attracting the attention of several local men, including her former lover Andy, rock star Ben, and philandering novelist Nicholas. Tamara begins a relationship with Ben, while Nicholas, despite his ongoing affair, attempts to rekindle his past with Tamara, and teenagers Jody and Casey cause a rift between Tamara and Ben with a fake email.
