Princess Leia hides secret plans in R2-D2 before being captured by Darth Vader, leading R2-D2 and C-3PO to Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, who then discovers Leia's message and meets Obi-Wan Kenobi. After his aunt and uncle are killed by Imperial stormtroopers, Luke joins Obi-Wan, hiring Han Solo and Chewbacca to transport them on the Millennium Falcon, only to discover Alderaan destroyed and be pulled into the Death Star. Inside the Death Star, Luke, Han, and Chewbacca rescue Leia while Obi-Wan sacrifices himself in a duel with Darth Vader, allowing the others to escape and deliver the plans to the Rebel Alliance. Luke joins the Rebel attack on the Death Star, and with Han's timely return to save him from Darth Vader, Luke successfully destroys the station, leading to a heroic celebration by the Rebel Alliance.
