Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi uncover a Trade Federation invasion of Naboo, rescuing Queen Amidala and discovering young Anakin Skywalker, a Force-sensitive slave. After Anakin wins his freedom and ship parts in a podrace, the Jedi bring him to a hesitant Jedi Council while Amidala returns to Naboo to reclaim her throne. A multi-front battle erupts on Naboo, culminating in Anakin accidentally destroying the Trade Federation's control ship. Qui-Gon is killed by Darth Maul, but Obi-Wan defeats Maul and commits to training Anakin, marking the beginning of the boy's Jedi journey amidst Naboo's liberation celebration.
