Struggling single father Ali moves to Antibes, France, with his son Sam, where he meets and forms an unusual friendship with Stephanie, an orca trainer who loses her legs in a tragic accident. Ali begins bare-knuckle fighting for money, with Stephanie becoming his manager, deepening their relationship as she finds purpose and he gains financial stability. While at a training camp, Ali heroically saves Sam from a frozen pond, breaking the ice with his bare hands after Sam falls through.
