Return of the APes script

A global phenomenon of rapidly aging newborns threatens humanity, leading scientist Will Robinson to theorize a connection to mitochondrial DNA, which he shares with Professor Billie Rae Diamond. Will escapes the Tribe of the Tiger with Aragorn and ape ally Strider, while Diamond discovers her unborn child shares the same fatal genetic defect as other human fetuses, confirming the apes' knowledge of human existence and their own similar suffering. After a brutal battle where Strider sacrifices himself, Will and Diamond reunite, infiltrate the ape city, rescue Eve and other human prisoners, and escape with Aragorn and the tribespeople. Aragorn is killed by Drak, but Will defeats Drak with a primitive cannon, and Diamond gives birth to a healthy baby boy, signifying a new beginning for humanity as they gaze upon a sculpture of the Statue of Liberty.

Dialogue examples

Like Michael Flanagan, they were full-term babies. Two hundred and seventy eight days since conception and yet, by all reasonable medical standards, they have completed their entire life cycle. They have gone from conception to death, not in three score years and ten, but in slightly less than nine months. Michael Flanagan died of old age.

Billie Rae Diamond / Scene 3

Death is stuck to these walls, stranger - sounds not even a thousand winters can take away. Sometimes of a night they speak to me - I can hear the screams of my people.

Aragorn / Scene 10

Just like the tribes - burn them out of their holes, put them to the sword? I don't mind doing that - I like it - but it's never enough, is it?

Drak / Scene 18

No man can live without a tribe! How would he hunt the mighty animals? Who would keep his fire burning?

Kip-Kena / Scene 7

And the word was God. Yea, though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil...

Will Robinson / Scene 31

No, this is into the very heart of what we are. This is genetic. This is part of the DNA.

Will Robinson / Scene 6

The baby in question, Michael James Flanagan... was born at New York Hospital yesterday.

Billie Rae Diamond / Scene 3

She's here... holy God - she's here! It's not a woman - it's a child!

Billie Rae Diamond / Scene 28
