Nine-year-old Robin Hammond is accidentally killed by a falling pane of glass while playing a game called 'Murder' with her twin brother Alex, older sister Kim, and friends Nick, Wendy, Jude, and Kelly in an unfinished apartment building. Six years later, as the high school prom approaches, the surviving friends begin receiving harassing phone calls and discover their yearbook photos defaced. The school custodian, Sanford Sykes, is a creepy presence, and Kim's father, Raymond Hammond, a history teacher, is haunted by Robin's death. As the prom night arrives, the friends are targeted by a mysterious killer, who is revealed to be Alex, seeking revenge for his twin sister's death, believing his friends were responsible for her demise.
