Philadelphia script

Andrew Beckett, a brilliant lawyer, is diagnosed with AIDS and subsequently fired from his prestigious law firm, Wyant Wheeler Hellerman Tetlow and Brown, under false pretenses. Andrew hires Joe Miller, a homophobic personal injury lawyer, to represent him in a wrongful termination lawsuit against his former firm. As the trial progresses, Joe confronts his own prejudices while Andrew's health deteriorates, forcing them to fight against discrimination and the firm's attempts to discredit Andrew. Despite Andrew's declining health and the defense's aggressive tactics, Joe successfully argues that Andrew was fired due to his illness and sexuality, leading the jury to rule in Andrew's favor. Andrew dies shortly after the verdict, and a wake is held at his loft, where Joe and Andrew's loved ones celebrate his life and legacy.
