1998
Mewtwo, a genetically engineered Pokémon, awakens in a laboratory, learns of his creation as a clone, and, enraged by his purpose, destroys the facility. He then invites several Pokémon trainers, including Ash Ketchum, to a challenge at his castle on New Island, intending to prove his superiority and create a new world order with his cloned Pokémon. Ash and his friends, Misty and Brock, brave a powerful storm to reach the island, where Mewtwo reveals his plan to clone their Pokémon and eliminate all humans and original Pokémon. A massive battle ensues between the original Pokémon and their clones, with Ash sacrificing himself to stop the fighting, prompting Mewtwo to realize the value of life and cooperation, leading him to erase everyone's memories and depart with his cloned Pokémon to find a place where they can live in peace.
