Les Misérables script

After nineteen years of imprisonment, Jean Valjean breaks parole to become an honest man, constantly pursued by the relentless Inspector Javert. Valjean rescues the orphaned Cosette, raising her as his own while evading Javert and becoming entangled in the tragic lives of Fantine and the cruel Thenardiers. Years later, in Paris, Valjean becomes involved in a student uprising, saving Marius's life and confronting Javert, who, unable to reconcile his rigid beliefs with Valjean's mercy, commits suicide. Valjean confesses his past to Marius, who marries Cosette, and Valjean dies peacefully, reunited in spirit with Fantine and other loved ones.
