LAKE PLACID script

A paleontologist, Kelly Scott, is sent to a remote Maine lake to investigate a mysterious death after a man is found mutilated in the water. Working with Fish and Game officer Jack Wells and Sheriff Hank Keough, Kelly discovers evidence suggesting a massive crocodile is responsible for the attacks, including a severed moose head and a human toe. The eccentric mythology professor Hector Cyr joins the team, further complicating the investigation as the crocodile attacks escalate, killing a deputy and injuring others. After confronting the reclusive local Delores Bickerman, who admits to feeding the crocodile, the team uses a helicopter and a dangling cow to lure and subdue the creature, but Mrs. Bickerman is later seen feeding baby crocodiles, implying the threat is not entirely gone.

Dialogue examples

Let him go! I'm sick of you too, let him go. Thing about being rich, Sheriff, my parents had the added luxury of being able to ditch me off at Karate school, I'm a brown belt. So go ahead. Take your best shot.

Hector Cyr / Scene 27

Why he's that big, I don't know. Why he's here... the wetlands are being developed, crocodiles are moving. Australia, Fiji, the things have started to cross oceans.

Kelly Scott / Scene 27

Hank. The little cannon you brought, get it. Guard the shoreline. Otherwise, we're done. We made the I.D., our job is finished.

Jack Wells / Scene 27

Ask me, what an animal does in the wild is his own business so long as he doesn't do it to man. I think Mark Twain said that.

Hank Keough / Scene 2

Cute little Buttons. Mommy loves you. Come eat your supper little buttons. Nibble Mommy's toes.

Delores Bickerman / Scene 39

Alright, Ms. Paleontologist. I wanna know why that monster is here. You got a theory?

Hank Keough / Scene 27

But why Maine and why alone? Crocs are social, why's this guy on the move by himself?

Jack Wells / Scene 27

Keep enough tension to hold him up, Hector, we don't know if he can swim.

Jack Wells / Scene 36
