JEUX INTERDITS script

After her parents are killed in a 1940 air raid, five-year-old Paulette wanders with her dead dog until she is found by ten-year-old Michel Doll, who brings her to his family's farm. Paulette and Michel bond over death, creating a secret animal cemetery adorned with crosses stolen from the local church and graveyard, which escalates a feud between their families. The theft leads to a physical altercation, prompting Michel to destroy his cross collection and hide a bracelet he made for Paulette. Ultimately, the police take Paulette to a Red Cross facility, where she calls out for Michel amidst other displaced children.
