Simon, an ex-Marine recruit, is kidnapped and imprisoned with other captives by Dale and Marok, who force them to fight their initiates, called Plebes, to the death. After Rob, Sean, and Wayne are killed, and Simon's escape attempt fails, Eric is forced to kill Marok's brother, Plebe Red, escalating Marok's desire for vengeance. As the last remaining captive, Simon is forced to fight Plebe Gold, whom he ultimately kills in a brutal struggle. Simon then kills Dale and Marok, locks the remaining captor Denny in the cage, and finally escapes the deadly ritual.

You have not slept within the last 72 hours. You have barely eaten. I do not care. I do not care because your enemy will not care. When I think about doing it, I'm not scared. I mean, I'm not scared of the fight. I know I can fight. I think about tonight when I go to sleep. And the next night. And a night ten years from now.
