Young Indiana Jones discovers a group of treasure hunters and later, as an adult, reclaims the Cross of Coronado, an artifact he first tried to save as a boy. Wealthy antiquities collector Walter Donovan recruits Indiana to find the Holy Grail and his missing father, Professor Henry Jones, who was also searching for the artifact. Indy and his colleague Marcus Brody discover Henry's ransacked house and his Grail Diary, leading them to Venice where they find a knight's tomb and are attacked by the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword. Indy rescues his father from a Nazi-occupied castle in Austria, learning that Elsa Schneider, an archaeologist who helped him, is a Nazi collaborator working with Donovan.
