2001
Lobster fisherman Frank Fowler's relationship with single mother Natalie Strout is complicated by her volatile estranged husband, Richard, who eventually murders Frank. Frank's parents, Matt and Ruth, are consumed by grief and anger, especially when Richard's release on bail seems possible, causing a rift between them as Matt secretly stalks Richard. Driven by revenge, Matt enlists his friend Willis to abduct Richard, taking him to a remote cabin where Matt executes him and disposes of the body and weapon. Matt returns home, and a subtle shift in his and Ruth's dynamic in bed suggests a shared, unspoken understanding of the dark act that brings them a twisted peace.
