One year after the events of the previous summer, Julie James is still haunted by the memory of killing Ben Willis, experiencing nightmares and struggling to move on. Julie and her best friend Karla win a radio contest for a luxurious trip to the Bahamas, and they invite their boyfriends, Tyrell and Will, to join them, while Julie's former boyfriend Ray plans to surprise her with an engagement ring. On their way to the island, Ray and his friend Dave encounter a staged accident, and Dave is brutally murdered by the Fisherman, Ben Willis, who then attacks Ray, leaving him hospitalized. The group arrives at the deserted Tower Bay hotel in the Bahamas, where they are met by the mysterious manager Brooks and the porter Estes, but soon realize they are trapped on the island as a hurricane approaches.
