Lila Jute, a nature writer with excessive body hair, marries fastidious psychologist Nathan Bronfman, who is secretly having an affair and attempts to civilize Puff, a man raised as an ape. Feeling neglected and drawn to Puff's primal nature, Lila takes him into the woods to re-wild him, teaching him to embrace his natural instincts. Nathan confronts them in the forest, leading to a violent altercation where he is killed, resulting in Lila's arrest and confession.
