Larry and Julia Cotton move into Frank's house, where Larry's blood accidentally resurrects Frank, who was previously torn apart by extra-dimensional Cenobites after solving a puzzle box. Julia, Frank's former lover, helps him regenerate by luring men to the house for him to consume, a gruesome secret discovered by Larry's daughter, Kirsty, who flees with the puzzle box and inadvertently summons the Cenobites. Kirsty bargains with the Cenobites, leading them to Frank, who has fully regenerated and disguised himself as Larry, but she exposes his deception, causing the Cenobites to drag Frank back to their dimension. The Cenobites then pursue Kirsty, but she reverses the puzzle box's configuration, sending them back to their realm and destroying the house, though the box's later reappearance suggests the threat remains.
