1994
Professional thief Neil McCauley and his crew execute a daring armored car robbery, but the job goes sideways when the volatile new recruit, Waingro, unnecessarily kills the guards, drawing the relentless pursuit of Detective Vincent Hanna. As Hanna's personal life crumbles under the pressure of his work, Neil plans a major bank heist, which turns into a chaotic shootout with the police, resulting in the deaths of several crew members. Seeking revenge for Waingro's betrayal and the deaths of his friends, Neil tracks down and executes Waingro before preparing to flee the country with Eady. Hanna, having deduced Neil's escape route, corners him at the airport and fatally shoots him on the runway, ending the pursuit.
