1997
Corrupt detectives Frank Divinci and Rodriguez murder an undercover DEA agent, framing a homeless man named Joe and coercing a stripper, Cynthia Webb, to identify him. As Joe's defense attorney uncovers inconsistencies, Divinci murders Rodriguez for wearing a wire and then attempts to kill Cynthia, but Joe, revealed as a brilliant surgeon, saves her. In a final twist, Clyde Dunner, a killer Divinci previously framed, murders Divinci in his getaway car. Joe then performs heart surgery on Cynthia using Divinci's heart, leading to her recovery and Joe's return to his life as a surgeon.
