1984
Teenager Charley Brewster discovers his new neighbor, Jerry Dandrige, is a vampire after witnessing suspicious activity and a local murder, but his friends and family dismiss his claims. Charley enlists the help of cynical TV horror host Peter Vincent, who, after initial disbelief, confirms Jerry's vampiric nature during a visit to his house. Jerry retaliates by turning Charley's friend Evil Ed into a vampire and kidnapping his girlfriend Amy, prompting Charley and Peter to confront Jerry and his minions in a desperate battle. They defeat Jerry by exposing him to sunlight, rescue Amy, and later, while Charley and Amy are intimate, a vampire is revealed to be watching them from Jerry's window.

I don't know. Some fellow who fixes up houses, he said. Supposed to be attractive, too. Anyway I just hope whoever he is, he knows what he's getting into with that house. It's going to take a lot of work just to make it liveable --
You have nothing to fear from me. I understand what it's like, being different. Only they won't make fun of you anymore or beat you up. I'll see to that. All you have to do is take my hand.
Then maybe we it really have a chance to kill Dandrige tomorrow night. You two don't know what it's been like, knowing there's a vampire living next door and having no one believe me --
What's wrong, Charley? Afraid I'd never come over without being invited first? You're quite right. But, of course, now that I've been made welcome, I'll probably drop by quite a bit.
But I am the one that has to know, Charley. This is holy water. If it touches him, he'll blister- and in this case I asked him to drink it while we all watched. He readily agreed.
