Ash Williams and his girlfriend Linda arrive at a remote cabin, where Professor Knowby's translation of the Book of the Dead unleashes a demonic entity, leading to Linda's possession and Ash severing his own possessed hand. Professor Knowby's daughter Annie arrives with her partner and two guides, discovering the horrifying truth as the group faces escalating demonic attacks, resulting in their possessions and deaths. Equipped with a chainsaw hand and shotgun, Ash teams up with Annie to retrieve the missing pages of the Book of the Dead and banish the demons. During a final confrontation, Annie is killed, but Ash defeats the primary demon before being sucked through a time portal into the past, where he is hailed as a hero by medieval knights.
