EVENT HORIZON script

Dr. William Weir, haunted by nightmares, is tasked by Admiral Hollis to join the crew of the Lewis and Clark on a mission to Neptune, where his experimental spaceship, the Event Horizon, has mysteriously reappeared after vanishing seven years prior. Upon boarding the derelict vessel, the crew discovers a frozen corpse and a disturbing distress signal, while engineer Justin is pulled into the ship's gravity drive core, experiencing a terrifying void that triggers a gravity wave and causes the crew to suffer vivid, personal hallucinations. As the Event Horizon's malevolent influence grows, Weir becomes increasingly unhinged, believing the ship is alive and has traveled to a dimension of pure chaos, leading him to sabotage the Lewis and Clark and murder crew members Peters and Smith. Captain Miller confronts the now-mutilated Weir, who reveals his intention to drag the remaining crew into hell with the ship, forcing Miller to detonate the Event Horizon, sacrificing himself to save Starck and Cooper, who are eventually rescued as the ship's foredecks are propelled to safety by a collapsing black hole.

Dialogue examples

Well, in layman's terms, you use a rotating magnetic field to focus a narrow beam of gravitons; these in turn fold space-time consistent with Weyl tensor dynamics until the space-time curvature becomes infinitely large and you have a singularity...

DR. WILLIAM WEIR / Scene 10

I'd rather spend the next twelve hours Outside than another five minutes in this can. This ship is bad. It watches you.

SMITH / Scene 27

I apologize for the short notice, Bill, but we've had something come up that requires your immediate attention. Lyle?

ADMIRAL HOLLIS / Scene 7

Your black hole damn near ripped my ship apart. It may have killed one of my men. No one goes near that thing.

CAPTAIN MILLER / Scene 24

I didn't say that, I said the bio-readings correspond to what happened to you, the ship is reacting to us...

STARCK / Scene 34

There's no danger. The black hole is contained behind three magnetic fields, it's under control.

DR. WILLIAM WEIR / Scene 24

Goddammit, DJ, it was not a hallucination! I saw a man, he was on fire. And then he disappeared.

CAPTAIN MILLER / Scene 33

There: "...liberatis me..." They haven't been able to translate the rest, it's too distorted.

DR. WILLIAM WEIR / Scene 12
