Max, a taxi driver, is forced by hitman Vincent to drive him to five assassination targets across Los Angeles in one night, witnessing murders and cleaning up crime scenes. Max discovers the final target is Annie Farrell, a prosecutor he had connected with earlier, prompting him to crash his taxi and race to warn her at the Federal Building. As Vincent hunts Annie, Max helps her flee through the building and onto a subway train, where he confronts the hitman. Max shoots Vincent multiple times, leading to Vincent's death on the train as Max and Annie escape, forever changed.
