Andrew, a bullied and socially awkward teenager, begins filming his life, capturing the abuse from his alcoholic father and the illness of his mother. While at a party with his cousin Matt and friend Steve, the trio discovers a mysterious glowing object in the woods, granting them telekinetic powers. They initially use their new abilities for pranks and personal gain, but Andrew's powers grow stronger and more volatile, leading to a dangerous car accident. As Andrew's behavior becomes increasingly erratic and violent, culminating in him accidentally killing Steve during a thunderstorm and then intentionally killing his abusive father in the hospital, Matt realizes Andrew has become a dangerous threat. Matt confronts Andrew in downtown Portland, leading to a destructive battle that ends with Matt reluctantly killing Andrew to prevent further harm, before flying to Tibet to understand and control his own powers.
