After a frustrated field reporter named Bruce Nolan blames God for his misfortunes, God bestows all of His powers upon him, challenging Bruce to do a better job. Bruce initially uses his omnipotence selfishly, but soon becomes overwhelmed by prayers, leading to global chaos and his girlfriend Grace leaving him. Realizing his mistakes, Bruce relinquishes his powers and is hit by a truck, leading him to a hospital. There, he reunites with Grace, learns to appreciate life's small miracles, and becomes a better person and successful reporter.
