Eleven-year-old Mildred is left with her estranged illusionist father, Strawn, after her mother collapses, and they embark on a wilderness hiking trip to find a panther for reward money. Their search for the panther takes a dangerous turn when they are kidnapped by a couple, Arnold and Angelina, who demand Strawn's valuables. Strawn and Mildred escape, but Mildred is injured during a panther attack on a rope bridge, leading Strawn to steal Arnold and Angelina's jeep to drive them to safety, only to crash after swerving to avoid the panther. Mildred awakens in the hospital, recovering from her ordeal, with both her parents by her side.

I just... I've heard so many horror stories. You can't be too careful, with other peoples' kids, these days... Touching them. Even hugs are a no-go.
