Airplane script analysis
Airplane opens with a stylized shot of a jet and quickly establishes the absurd tone through sight gags and character introductions. Ted Striker’s fear of flying and romantic fallout with Elaine set up his reluctance to board Flight 209, which erupts into chaos after food poisoning incapacitates the crew. Guided by Dr. Rumack and air‐traffic control veteran Rex Kramer via radio, Striker must overcome his trauma to land the plane amid a storm. The finale resolves both the external crisis and Striker’s internal arc.
