The Abbott family lives in silence to avoid sound-hunting creatures, but their youngest son is killed after making noise. Two years later, as Evelyn goes into labor, she attracts a creature, forcing Lee to distract it while she gives birth. Lee sacrifices himself to save Regan and Marcus from attacking creatures, but Regan discovers her hearing aid's high-frequency sound disorients them. The family uses this weakness to kill a creature, and as more approach, they prepare to fight back.
